Galveston Storm of 1900: 120th Anniversary – September 8th

Countries all over Europe and Great Britain sent tens of thousands of dollars to Galveston to help the survivors of the Storm. Over 25% of Galveston’s population of 35,000 drowned in an apocalyptic 15 foot storm surge that swamped the island. In 24 hours over 8000 died. “The Complete Story of the Galveston Horror” (1900) is a first person account of survivors in the hours and days after the hurricane struck with no advance warning.  Galveston: Honor the Dead! 120 years is too long to wait!!
